Just wanted to comment on some sweet iPhone apps I have found useful, fun, or just a must have….

  • Darkness - Just a interesting app with clock, weather, sunset, sunrise and other info about any city of choice… [App Store Link]
  • iStat - Great app to view stats like battery life, memory used, IP, load of your iPhone. But the best part is you can view the same information on any machine you run their server app. So I am to monitor the CPU, memory and network activity of my MacMini at home.  Very neat! [App Store Link]
  • MyFantasyTeams Pro - If you are a yahoo Fantasy sports user, then this is a must have, easy to manage your team, read/write on discussion board, check scores, etc. Could use some work on add/drop/trade functionality but a must have. [App Store Link]
  • iCommuteSF - If you are San Franciscoan (is that right?) that used Muni, then another must have.  Saves your favorites stops or finds nearby stops.  Could help with determine routes and each stop but still very quick and useful. [App Store Link]
  • IM+   - If you enjoy or rely on Instant Messaging Apps such as AOL, jabber, iChat, GTalk, MSN, yahoo, facebook, etc. - then this will keep you connected and utilizes Apples Push notification service… Since I use IM for work, this helps be stay connected when I’m not at my desk (but they don’t know that).[App Store Link]
  • Bump - Another sweet app that makes it super easy to trade contact information with other ‘Bump’ users. just a 1 time setup to choose what contact info you wish to share, then just bump away, this now actually makes a ‘fist bump’ productive…[App Store Link]
  • Rowmote Pro - For those with Media Center computers (Computer connected to a TV) then this can turn your iPhone/touch into a wireless remote mouse.  can move the mouse, run applications, virtual keyboard… this has been essential for my to access my MacMini connected to my HDTV while the MacMini is tucked away in a drawer. [App Store Link]
  • Prowl - For user of Growl, this is a must have. Prowl essentially allows a computer to notify you of whatever you wish using Apple’s Push notification service. Most would use this to turn their Gmail account into a Push email service but I also use it to monitor my MacMini while i’m away. If a drive crashes, etc - i can get notified real time. [App Store Link]
  • Where to go? - This app has replace AroundMe and iWant as those were deemed to inconsistent.  This one is still under evaluation but we’ll see. [App Store Link]
  • KillerDeals - big fan of ChainLove? bonktown? SteepandCheap?  Then this is a one-stop app to view it all in a easy to view app with fast load times.  Its easy to make purchases too… [App Store Link]

Okay this is enough for now.. I will add more later when I have time….  Please post feedback on these apps and let me know if you agree or disagree.

Wow, we rode up Mt. Diablo this Saturday and it was awesome!!!! Defintely a tough ride if you aren’t trained for the hills. Most of us were fairly new to hills so it was a challenge. But we did make it to the top in about 90 minutes or so…

Quick Mt. Diablo Stats

  • Peak - 3,849 Ft. above sea level
  • a Climb of 3,249 over 10.8 Miles
